Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has subpoenaed state Senate records involving Sen. Pedro Espada Jr., whose Bronx health clinic was raided Wednesday by federal agents.
Cuomo wants personnel and travel records for several Senate employees hired by Espada, the Senate’s majority leader.
Senate Democratic majority spokesman Austin Shafran says today the Senate will provide the documents.
Cuomo sued Espada on Tuesday, accusing him of packing his business with relatives who also had state jobs. Cuomo says Espada siphoned off millions of dollars from the government-funded nonprofit clinic for himself and his family.
Espada says the accusations are baseless and motivated by Cuomo’s desire to run for governor.
