Lake George Opera’s “Carmen” at the Spa Little Theatre at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (opens July 8). Be seduced by one of the world’s most beloved operas.

Glimmerglass Opera and Bard Summerscape are each offering shows not to be missed: Handel’s “Tolomeo” in grand style at Glimmerglass (opens July 18) and the rare find of Franz Schreker’s masterpiece, “The Distant Sound” at Bard (opens July 30).

Luzerne Chamber Music Festival in Lake Luzerne. It’s worth the drive, because you really can’t get enough of the Ying Quartet. July 19.

Philadelphia Orchestra at SPAC. There are great programs throughout the Aug. 4-21 season. But don’t miss bidding conductor Charles Dutoit and Chantal Juillet, director of the Chamber Festival, a fond farewell on Aug. 12.

And speaking of the Saratoga Chamber Music Festival, catch a mini-recital with pianist Andre Watts and a Brahms work with dream clarinetist Ricardo Morales on Aug. 15 in the Spa Little Theatre.
