Police say a 49-year-old Albany man drowned in Lake George Monday after his canoe capsized.
Warren County sheriff’s deputies say Stephen T. Canaday was canoeing with another man on the southern end of Lake George when their craft was capsized by the wake of a passing motorboat. Canaday was not able to swim the 35 feet to shore.
The other man made it to shore and called for help. Canaday was pulled from about 12 feet of water.
Police say the men were not wearing life preservers, though they did have them in the canoe.
