SALEM — State police say two men have died and four other people are hospitalized after a one-car accident on a rural road in Salem.
Troopers say 27-year-old Michael Thomas Jr. of Shushan was driving around 3 a.m. Sunday when his car crashed off a road in Salem, near the Vermont border 40 miles northeast of Albany.
Police say Thomas and 44-year-old Butch Crawford of Bennington, Vt., died at the scene.
Two other men and two women, all in their 20s, were injured. Police say all are in stable condition at Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.
Police haven’t released more details on the crash.
Troopers say the cause of the accident is under investigation, but they say speed appeared to be a factor.
