A glimpsed cell phone helped put the Stratton Air National Guard Base on lockdown briefly this morning, officials said.

A caller told Glenville Police at around 9 a.m. that they saw a service member with what they believed to be a weapon, state Division of Military and Naval Affairs spokesman Eric Durr said.

Glenville Police contacted the base, which determined the guard member had entered the base. They put the base on immediate emergency lockdown, meaning everyone stayed where they were.

With the information provided by the caller, base officials located the vehicle and the guard member. They quickly determined that no weapon was involved, that the caller may have seen the guard member with a cell phone, Durr said. The lockdown was then lifted.
