The judicial nomination of Albany lawyer Mae D’Agostino cleared an important hurdle this morning when it was approved out of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, according to officials at the Capitol.
D’Agostino’s nomination now goes before the full Senate.
U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer nominated D’Agostino to fill the judicial opening in U.S. District Court for the Northern District.
If confirmed, D’Agostino would be become the first woman from Albany to serve as a federal judge in Northern District. She also would be the only female federal judge serving in upstate New York and the second ever to serve in the Northern District.
