BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Serena Moore made two free throws with 31.6 seconds left to give the Siena women a 34-33 lead, and the Saints held on for a 36-33 MAAC Tournament quarterfinal victory over Fairfield at the Arena at Harbor Yard today.
Cristina Centeno made two free throws with 2.2 seconds left to secure the victory.
Siena will play top-seeded Marist at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Missy Ramsey hit a three to bring Siena within 31-30 with just over three minutes left.
Moore made two free throws with 1:39 left to make it 33-32.
Maja Gerlyng scored 14 points for the Saints (14-15), and leading scorer Moore was held to six points.
Siena and Fairfield combined to shoot 17.3 percent from the field in the first half as the Stags took a 15-7 lead.
The game was scoreless until Moore banked one in at 14:26. The Saints made just three of 25 shots (12.0 percent) in the half.
Fairfield wasn’t much better, but went on a 13-0 run to take a 15-4 lead, as Siena went nearly 10 minutes without a point.
Moore, the Saints’ first-team all-star, picked up her second foul with 6:17 left and stayed on the bench for the rest of the half.
