Brock Higgs scored twice, and 16th-ranked RPI had three first-period goals and held on for a 4-2 win over Colgate in Game 1 of the ECAC Hockey tournament first round Friday at Houston Field House.
The Engineers take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. They can clinch the series Saturday at 7 p.m.
