Final: Colgate shocks top-seeded Union in overtime, advances to semifinals

Winner goes to Atlantic City.

Wade Poplawski scored with 7:08 left in overtime Sunday, lifting 12th-seeded Colgate to a shocking 4-3 upset of top-seeded Union to win the ECAC Hockey tournament best-of-three first-round series at Messa Rink.

The Raiders (11-26-3), who finished in last place during the regular season, advance to the semifinals Friday in Atlantic City, N.J. They will face second-seeded Yale.

The regular-season champion Dutchmen (26-9-4) now wait for an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. The 16-team field will be announced next Sunday.
