City police arrested two men on felonies Tuesday — one for having a child in a vehicle while driving while intoxicated and the second for allegedly violating an order of protection.

John T. Recore, 28, of Reid Street was charged with felony aggravated DWI, misdemeanor DWI and lesser infractions after officers said they observed him driving the wrong way on Division Street, a one-way street.

Police pulled over Recore’s vehicle shortly before 6 p.m. and said they observed a 2-year-old child in the car.

Police said Recore’s blood alcohol content was .12 percent.

In the second case, Michael G. Douglas, 27, of Milton Avenue, Amsterdam, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt for violating an order of protection.

Police said the arrest stems from an incident on March 30 when Douglas was observed running from the Hibbard Street residence where the protected party resides. Hibbard ran from the scene and was not apprehended that day, police said.

Both individuals were arraigned in City Court.
