NORTH HUDSON — State police say a 25-year-old man charged with videotaping women in a bathroom at an upstate New York highway rest stop may have been conducting the illegal surveillance since January.
Troopers say they charged Daniel LaMere this week after a woman using the bathroom in the rest area alongside the southbound lanes of Interstate 87 in North Hudson noticed something suspicious last Sunday and alerted police. The stop is near Exit 29.
Troopers say their investigation led to LaMere, who works for a company contracted by the state to maintain the rest area, located in the eastern Adirondacks 90 miles north of Albany.
Police aren’t releasing details of how the video camera was set up.
A message left this morning at a phone listing for LaMere in Elizabethtown wasn’t returned.
