Montgomery County man crashed car, then reported it stolen, police say

BURTONSVILLE — Police allege a man who reported his car stolen last week actually crashed it in Saratoga County.

Dominic V. Polsinelli, 20, of 1298 Burtonsville Rd., was charged with making a punishable false written statement, a misdemeanor, according to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s department.

Police in the release said Polsinelli reported his car was taken from his driveway on May 12, but state police found the vehicle before Polsinelli made the report.

After inspecting the vehicle, police approached Polsinelli with inconsistencies in his statement and police allege he admitted to crashing it.

Polsinelli was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Charleston Town Court.
