City and state police, working together through the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, arrested a 23-year-old city man today on felony charges of possessing child pornography.
Police said Ian S. Beemer, of Van Rensselaer Street, was in possession of digital photography that shows a prepubescent girl engaged in a sexually explicit act and shared one or more of the photographs on the Internet. The alleged offenses occurred at Beemer’s home on March 3, police said.
Investigators seized computers upon executing a search warrant at Beemer’s home this morning and are continuing their investigation, police said.
Beemer was charged with one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony, and one count of possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony. He was arraigned in City Court today and sent to the Saratoga County jail on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. He is scheduled to reappear in City Court on May 20.
The Saratoga Springs City Police Department recently joined state police and other local law enforcement agencies as members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. This is the first arrest made in Saratoga Springs based upon this collaborative effort.
“The safety of our children is one of the department’s top priorities, and I applaud the efforts of our investigative staff,” said city Public Safety Commissioner Richard Wirth.
