A 2-year-old toddler and his dog went missing for a short period this afternoon in the White Farms Road-Route 50 area of the city but were found safe and unharmed.
City police said the boy wandered away from his home on Old Ballston Avenue, a dead-end street that runs off Geyser Road not far from Route 50 at about 1:45 p.m.
Emergency personnel found the boy and dog on White Farms Road about 15 minutes later. They believe the toddler went through some woods to get to this point not too far from his home. The boy never crossed Route 50, police said. The incident was under investigation this afternoon but no charges were expected to be filed.
