FORT DRUM — Authorities say a Fort Drum soldier is in custody after shooting his wife on the Army post in northern New York.
Military officials say the shooting happened at post housing Wednesday night. They say 31-year-old Sgt. Jason Seeds of Toms River, N.J., was taken into custody.
It isn’t clear whether a military-issued weapon was used. A spokesman at the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division headquarters in Quantico, Va., says the soldier hasn’t been charged.
New York television station WWNY quoted officials at a Watertown hospital as saying she has been released.
Fort Drum officials say Seeds serves with the 59th Chemical Company, 10th Sustainment Brigade. They say he has been posted there since March 2000.
Fort Drum is 70 miles north of Syracuse and is home to the 10th Mountain Division.
