A poll says the New York Legislature’s top priority heading into the final weeks of the 2011 session should be passing a property tax cap.
The Siena College poll says the next priorities should be an ethics reform law followed by extending rent control laws in New York City.
Legalizing gay marriage came in fourth.
After that, New Yorkers who took part in the poll say they want to see an independent commission created to redraw election district lines more fairly.
All of those issues are among the topics being negotiated behind closed doors now in Albany.
Siena questioned 897 registered voters from May 11 to Tuesday. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.
