The Gloversville Senior Center will be shut down following a decision made by the center’s Board of Trustees Monday night, director Catherine Mueller said this morning.
Mueller said the center will hold a news conference Wednesday morning at the center at 55 Church St. to announce the impending closure.
Mueller said she’ll be laying off three employees. She could not say more prior to the news conference, she said.
The center curtailed operating hours back in 2008 and Mueller said then that financial difficulties started in 2005 when the city of Gloversville eliminated a $30,000 appropriation for the center.
