Police say a California man is recovering in an upstate hospital after he ran a boat aground on Lake Placid, slightly injuring three passengers.
State police say 37-year-old Bradley Hubbs of Capinteria, Calif., was operating a motor boat shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday when it ran onto the lake’s eastern shore and hit a tree.
Hubbs suffered back and head injuries. He was in the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake in fair condition.
Police say two young women from Lake Placid and a 24-year-old man from Cleveland suffered minor injuries.
Troopers ticketed Hubbs for operating an unregistered vessel. Police say he was sober at the time of the crash.
The crash happened several hours before a boating accident on the Hudson River killed four people and injured two others.
