Police shut down an alleged drug-farming operation this week and lodged felony charges against two Montgomery County men accused of growing marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms.
David A. Doherty, 21, and Jonathan M. Doherty, 25, of 220 W. Grand St., Palatine Bridge, were arrested Tuesday following a two-week investigation, according to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s department.

Seized during the operation were about 300 marijuana plants and 32 jars of mushrooms all in various stages of growth, a pound of processed marijuana, six firearms including an illegal assault rifle with a 100-round drum magazine and hydrocodone pills.
David Doherty was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies, and unlawfully growing marijuana, a misdemeanor.
Jonathan Doherty was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully growing marijuana, both misdemeanors.
