Police say a woman whose sport utility vehicle hit and killed three pedestrians as they prepared for a walk around the village had an arm in a cast and took medication the morning of the crash.
Acting Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple says today that investigators expect later in the day to have information extracted from the SUV’s computer. Apple says the data could tell them if LuAnn Burgess’ Toyota Highlander malfunctioned just before it ran into the three women standing outside a church in suburban Voorheesville Wednesday morning.
The 55-year-old Burgess has told police her flip-flop apparently interfered with the gas pedal.
Apple says she also told investigators she’d taken a prescription drug before the crash, but they don’t know if it was for her injured arm.
Burgess hasn’t been charged.
