Police are investigating the stabbing death of a woman who was staying at the Super 8 Motel.
At around 6:30 a.m. Sunday, officers received a call from a man staying in Room 243 of the motel at 1579 Central Ave. seeking emergency help for himself and a female companion who had cuts to their bodies.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man was transported by Colonie EMS to Albany Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life threatening, according to police. He was in surgery Sunday afternoon and has not been interviewed, according to Colonie police Lt. Robert Winn.
Police have not yet determined their identities or notified next of kin for the woman. Both are believed to be residents of the Capital Region. Winn said he did not know why the two were staying in the motel. The room was rented on Saturday for one night.
No arrests have been made. Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares is assisting in the ongoing investigation.
