A motorist failed to yield the right-of-way before a crash involving a tractor-trailer and passenger car that injured four people in the village on Thursday, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s department.
Critically injured in the accident was Sara Bushey, 63, of Albany, a passenger in the car driven by Daniel Bushey, 61, also of Albany, according to a release.
Sara Bushey was taken by GAVAC to St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam and transferred to Albany Medical Center Hospital where she was listed in critical condition this morning, according to the sheriff’s department.
Passengers in the tractor-trailer, Shawn Benner, 45, and a juvenile female, both of Newville, Penn., were treated for minor injuries at the Amsterdam hospital, as was Daniel Bushey.
Traffic was shut down for about six hours after police and the Fultonville, Glen and Fonda fire departments were called to the scene at about 10:30 a.m.
The sheriff’s department, state police accident reconstruction and commercial vehicle unit investigators probed the scene. A state Department of Environmental Conservation Spill Response representative was also seen at the site Thursday.
