Albany police are investigating an early morning shooting that left a Lexington Avenue man in critical condition at Albany Medical Center.
Kleotis King, 26, of 28 Lexington Ave., was shot in the chest in the hallway of 27 1/2 Lexington Ave., according to an news release issued today. Police received a 911 call at 1:17 a.m. and arrived to find King with a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Paramedics treated King at the scene, and he was then taken to Albany Medical Center, where he was scheduled to undergo surgery early this morning.
Witnesses told officers that a man walked from Clinton Avenue to Lexington Avenue, entered the hallway and shot King before running out of the building. Police said witnesses last saw the shooter running south on Lexington Avenue. The suspect was described as a 25-year-old black man about 5-feet-7 and 200 pounds with long, braided hair.
Police have not determined a motive, according to the release.
