A Mechanicville woman with a previous driving while intoxicated conviction is accused of causing an accident in June while driving with a blood alcohol content that was more than four times the legal limit.
Cynthia Dietrick, 50, of 63 Lakeside Dr., was arrested on Thursday and charged with felony DWI, felony aggravated DWI, vehicular assault in the second degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and two traffic violations, according to the Montgomery County Sheriffs Department.
The charges stem from June 21, when Dietrick was in an accident on Route 67 near the intersection with Morrow Road. The accident involved two cars and resulted in serious injuries to the occupants of both vehicles.
Based on investigations in the wake of that accident, it was determined that at the time of the crash, Dietrick had a BAC of .34 percent. This is at least her second alcohol-related incident, with a 2007 DWI conviction.
Dietrick was arraigned in the Town of Amsterdam Court and remanded to the county correctional facility on $5,000 cash bail.
