The case of ex-state Trooper Brian Beardsley, who was charged with a felony in June for running over a Northville man, will be addressed at a 9 a.m. press conference Tuesday involving the Hamilton County District Attorney’s office.
Beardsley was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, a felony, following an investigation into the May 22 death of Chad Finch, 29, who authorities said was lying in the roadway at about 2:41 a.m. before Beardsley ran over him with his 2009 Nissan pickup truck while off duty.
Beardsley, an 8-year trooper who worked out of the Mayfield barracks, was suspended without pay May 24 before leaving the force during a state police investigation.
According to the office of Hamilton County D.A. James Curry, named special prosecutor in the case because Beardsley was an arresting officer in several cases in Fulton County Court, Curry intends to make an announcement at his office in Lake Pleasant, Hamilton County, roughly 48 miles from the scene of the death.
Beardsley’s attorney, Ronald Schur, said today he was not at liberty to discuss any results from a grand jury review of the case and declined further comment.
