A 29-year-old Saratoga County man has been charged with attempted kidnapping for allegedly attacking a woman in the parking lot of the Stewart’s Shop on Route 9N in Greenfield Center, state police said today.
Thomas M. Mould of North Greenfield Road in Porter Corners was also charged with the new strangulation section of the penal law.
His arrest stemmed from an incident at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday. Police said Mould allegedly attacked a female patron of Stewart’s as she finished fueling her car at the gas pumps near the convenience store.
“He forced his way into the vehicle and assaulted the woman inside the car,” police said in a statement. Mould fled the scene after the woman fought back. The suspect was located by state police a short time later. He was arraigned in Greenfield Town Court and has been in Saratoga County Jail since Friday without bail.
Because of the violent nature of the incident, state police are asking for anyone who may have been in the area of the Stewart’s Shop that night and may have seen the defendant prior, during, or after the attack to call.
Anyone who also has information on other incidents involving this suspect is asked to contact Investigator Robert Stampfli of the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at the Wilton station at 583-7010 or 583-7000.
