The man found dead outside the parking garage at St. Peter’s Hospital has been identified as Christopher Ringwald, an Albany journalist and author who recently began work as a reporter for The Daily Gazette, police and newspaper officials said.
Ringwald’s death has been ruled a suicide, police said.
His body was found at about 9:45 a.m. this morning at the rear parking garage of St. Peter’s Hospital by a hospital employee. An investigation determined he jumped from the top level, police said.
Before joining The Daily Gazette, Ringwald, who was 55, served as editor at the Albany Catholic Diocese’s weekly newspaper, The Evangelist, served as a visiting scholar at The Sage Colleges and as a staff writer for the Albany Times-Union. He was also the author of two books.
