Three men have been arrested for allegedly possessing more than 10 pounds of marijuana.
The Colonie Police Department received a call Friday at about 7:30 a.m. from an employee at the Stewart’s at 170 Central Ave. about two men in the store acting suspiciously and possibly under the influence of illegal drugs. Officers found the suspects were under the influence of heroin and did possess heroin, marijuana and syringes, according to a press release.
Police found out that the suspects had been using drugs with a third man in their nearby hotel, the Baymont Inn and Suites at 1606 Central Ave.
Officers went to check on the man and found that he was fine but discovered more marijuana in the room, according to police.
Police recovered 10 pounds and 15 ounces of marijuana, Xanax pills and nearly $19,000 in cash. Arrested were:
— Sean M. Karandy, 25, of 1807 Duanesburg Road in Duanesburg, charged with felony criminal possession of marijuana and violations of public intoxication and unlawful possession of marijuana.
— Ryan W. McGinn, 26, of 913 Hawkhorn Court in Alpharetta, Ga., charged with felony counts of criminal possession of marijuana and forgery, misdemeanors of criminal impersonation and criminal possession of a controlled substance and a violation of public intoxication.
— Mark A. Haire, 38, of 81 Riviera Cove in Dover, Ark., felony criminal possession of marijuana and misdemeanors of criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is also wanted in Ohio as a fugitive from justice on multiple drug charges including trafficking, aggravated possession, possession and possession of marijuana.
All three defendants were arraigned in Colonie Justice Court before Judge Andrew Sommers and have been remanded without bail to the Albany County Correctional Facility. Their cases have been referred to the Albany County District Attorney.
