Police are investigating an attempted abduction this morning of a 13-year-old girl.
The girl told police that she had left Mont Pleasant Middle School and was walking in the area of Oakwood Avenue and Howard Street at 10:36 a.m. when she was approached by a man who grabbed her by the chest and allegedly tried to pull her into his car, according to police spokesman Lt. Mark McCracken.
She struck the man, ran away and headed back to the school. The girl described the suspect as a heavy-set black man, 5-feet-9-inches tall, and driving a newer red four-door car of unknown make and model, McCracken said.
The girl was not injured.
McCracken did not know why she was leaving school.
