An ex-convict charged with killing three relatives and setting fire to the home they shared has been indicted on murder, arson and other charges.
Media outlets report Matthew Slocum pleaded not guilty today during his arraignment in Washington County Court in Fort Edward. He was returned to the county jail.
The 24-year-old was arrested at his uncle’s home in New Hampshire on July 13, the same day authorities say he killed his mother, stepfather and stepbrother inside their home in the rural town of White Creek.
Police say Slocum shot them before setting fire to their house. He fled with his girlfriend and their 4-month-old son before being tracked down in Gilsum, N.H.
Slocum is an ex-convict who served almost four years for a burglary.
