A 13-year-old girl who told police a week ago that a man tried to abduct her fabricated much of that story, police said today.
The girl, who wasn’t named due to her age, was charged with a misdemeanor count of falsely reporting an incident. The case was sent to family court.
The girl told police on Sept. 27 that she was approached by a man in the area of Oakwood Avenue and Howard Street that morning. The man grabbed her by the chest and tried to pull her into his car, she told police.
She struck the man, got away and headed back to the school. She even gave a description of the suspect.
Despite the conclusion on the girl’s report, two men were charged late last week in unrelated incidents, accused of inappropriately talking to teenage girls.
Those men were charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
