The Federal Emergency Management Agency is holding information sessions to help upstate New Yorkers prepare for future disasters.
FEMA will be in home stores in Montgomery and Greene counties this week to show residents the preventative measures that will pay off when natural disasters such as floods and snow storms hit.
Free sessions will be provided at the Lowe’s home improvement store Friday and Wednesday in Amsterdam from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Free FEMA sessions are also planned for the Lowe’s store in Greene County’s town of Catskill on Friday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The advice will include how to clean mold and mildew from homes, installing sewer back-flow valves and how to remove damaged drywall and insulation.
