Driver found with pot, loaded shotgun at Albany traffic stop, police say

More than a pound of a marijuana and a loaded shotgun were seized in a vehicle stopped for a traffic infraction on Thursday evening.

Driver Jacob Haase, 18, of 149 Second Ave., was charged with criminal possession of marijuana third degree and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

He was stopped around 6:45 p.m. at 437 Livingston Ave. While executing the traffic stop, officers found bags of marijuana in the back seat. When they searched Haase they discovered a gravity knife in his shirt pocket.

Haase was stopped at 6:45 p.m. in front of 437 Livingston Ave. During the course of the traffic stop patrol officers located several bags containing over a pound of marijuana in the back seat and in the front seat there was a loaded 12-gauge shotgun.

Police believe he was in the area to sell the marijuana.

Haase was taken into custody and arraigned this morning in Albany City Criminal Court.
