New York state is reporting that peak fall foliage is hitting the lower elevations of the Adirondacks along with parts of the Catskill Mountains and southwestern New York.
State tourism officials say the annual fall foliage show is looking more colorful than usual, with above-average colors of bronze, copper, mahogany, pumpkin and burgundy on display in many upstate areas.
Some parts of the Adirondacks in Hamilton County’s Indian Lake area still have pockets of brilliant colors, although much of the region is past peak foliage.
Much of upstate is approaching or just passing peak colors.
On Long Island, yellows, reds and oranges are quickly replacing green leaves.
