Jeremy Welsh scored his first three goals of the season, and goalie Troy Grosenick stopped 23 shots as No. 11 Union skated to a 3-3 tie with 12th-ranked Western Michigan in a non-conference college hockey game Saturday at Messa Rink.
It was the second straight night the two teams played to a draw. Friday’s score was 2-2.
Welsh scored two of his goals on the power play. The second one gave Union a 3-2 lead in the second period.
Chase Balisy tied it for the Broncos in the third period with a power-play goal.
Grosenick was solid in the third period and in overtime. He made several glove saves, including one on Shane Berschbach early in overtime from about seven feet out.
