Actor Jesse Eisenberg is making a pair of appearances locally to read parts of two ancient Greek tragedies that show the physical and psychological wounds suffered by combat soldiers.
The performances of “Theater of War” are being held this afternoon at the New York State Museum in Albany and tonight at the New York State Military Museum in Saratoga Springs.
Eisenberg and other actors will present readings of Sophocles’ “Ajax” and “Philoctetes.” The readings will be followed by discussions with members of the civilian and military communities. The U.S. military has used the performances to address post-traumatic stress disorder and other combat-related issues.
Eisenberg portrayed Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg in the 2010 Oscar-winning film “The Social Network.”
