Police have charged a Brooklyn man in the Aug. 12 shooting of Codie Hayward at his home on Littauer Place, according to a Gloversville police.

Tyquann Madison, 24, was arraigned in Gloversville City Court at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on one count of first-degree assault, a class B felony. Earlier in the day, Gloversville officers traveled to Hartford, Conn., to bring Madison back to the city so he could face the charge, according to a news release.

Madison waived extradition and was sent to the Fulton County jail without bail. His case will be reviewed by a grand jury and further charges are expected, police sad.

The August shooting left Hayward, 23, in critical condition after he was shot three times — in the arm, chest and leg — early on a Friday morning.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Hayward lying at the intersection of East Fulton Street and Littauer Place, about 100 yards from his home.

Police were able to identify Madison as the suspect early on, but refused to release his identity as the investigation continued.

Hayward himself was both a prior shooting victim and shooting suspect in Gloversville. In 2007, he was shot in face during a street brawl and a bullet permanently lodged in his cheekbone.

Just recently, Hayward was identified as one of three suspects in an Aug. 22 shooting behind Naif’s Grocery on North Main Street. He has since been arrested and remains in Fulton County jail.
