BATH, N.Y. — Testimony has begun in the murder trial of an Albany-area man charged with killing his 25-year-old ex-girlfriend and their 3-month-old son on Father’s Day last year.
The Star-Gazette of Elmira reports that during Tuesday’s testimony in Steuben County Court in Bath, Trieste Clayton’s mother described how she had feared for her daughter’s safety after Clayton met Bryan Ashline of Watervliet and moved in with him.
The 24-year Ashline is charged with first- and second-degree murder in the June 2010 stabbing deaths of Clayton and Xavier Ashline, the couple’s son.
Police found the two victims in Clayton’s apartment in Bath.
Clayton’s mother testified how she slipped past officers and saw her daughter and grandson lying in pools of blood on the kitchen floor.
