Some of the upstate communities hardest hit by the late summer tropical storms are making sure kids don’t miss out on Halloween.
The flood-ravaged village of Schoharie is holding a “trunk or treat” event on Main Street. Area residents will decorate their cars and trucks and hand out candy from a section of Main Street.
Much of the neighborhood and downtown remain gutted and empty, posing a hazard for children at night.
In the Greene County town of Prattsville, the American Legion Auxiliary is holding a Halloween party and parade in the fire house.
Children are discouraged from trick-or-treating on Main Street, which is lined with heavily damaged and gutted buildings two months after the flooding.
