Police are investigating a crash that injured a man and killed a horse late Saturday.

Noah Shelter, 21, of Glen, suffered injuries in the 10:25 p.m. crash involving Shelter’s horse and buggy and a car driven by Joseph J. Seney, 51, of Gloversville, according to a release from state police.

Police in the release said Seney was passing another Amish horse and buggy on state Route 30A and ran head-on into another Amish horse and buggy heading in the opposite direction.

The horse broke free after the crash, ran about a mile and then collapsed and died, according to police.

That resulted in a second collision — another motorist running over the dead horse in the roadway.

Shelter was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital.

There was no information related to Shelter’s condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.
