Gov. Andrew Cuomo has appointed a new chairwoman of the Adirondack Park Agency, a government panel that oversees land use in the six-million acre park.
Cuomo today announced the appointment of Leilani Crafts Ulrich as chairwoman. He also nominated Sherman Craig as a commissioner.
Crafts Ulrich, of Old Forge, was appointed to the APA in 2004 and reappointed in 2008. In 1997, she helped develop the Central Adirondack Partnership for the 21st Century, a nonprofit group that tries to balance environmental concerns with the need for economic development.
Craig is a retired teacher and school administrator and a member of the Adirondack Mountain Club and the Waterfront Revitalization Project.
The APA was established in 1971 to develop land-use plans for public and private parcel within the park.
