Approximately 150 members of the New York State Nurses Association are voting today to ratify a three-year contract with Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloverville.

Voting is expected to concluded tonight, with results released thereafter, said association spokesman Mark Genovese. Registered nurses began voting Monday.

“They are holding small group sessions with several sessions throughout day as nurses come off shift. We expect to wrap up the voting around 8 p.m.,” Genovese said.

If approved, the contract would be retroactive to Jan. 1 and would expire Dec. 31. 2013. The former contract was for four years.

In early November, the unionized nurses voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike when negotiations broke down. The strike was scheduled to begin Monday. Nurses called off the strike after weekend negotiations resulted in a tentative contract.
