Officials in a Vermont town are supporting passenger rail service in the area.
A study is looking at the impact of passenger rail service to Bennington and Rutland counties in Vermont as well as Rennselaer, Schenectady, Saratoga, Warren and Washington counties in New York.
The Bennington Select Board agreed Monday to send a letter of support for rail service to state and federal officials.
The Bennington Banner reports that Select Board Vice Chairman Matthew Maroney said he is more concerned with freight service, but would support passenger rail if it improved freight lines, too.
