Driver stopped in Glenville while under influence of heroin, police say

A man found to be operating his car while impaired by drugs was arrested this morning in Glenville.

A man found to be operating his car while impaired by drugs was arrested this morning after state police stopped him for a traffic violation, according to a state police release issued today.

Steven D. Welch, 28, was stopped on Route 5 in the town of Glenville at 9:53 a.m., and was reportedly in possession of a small quantity of heroin. Police charged him with driving while ability impaired by drugs and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor.

Welch was arraigned in the Town of Glenville Court and remanded to Schenectady County Jail pending further court action.
