Authorities say a 71-year-old woman has died in a house fire.
They say that Ethel Davis was found dead at about noon today just inside the door to her two-story home in Altamont.
Altamont Fire Chief Paul Miller said she apparently died of smoke inhalation while trying to escape the fire.
Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
