An elderly man was injured this morning after being struck by a car.
The accident happened at about 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Brandywine Avenue and Albany Street. The driver was traveling east on Albany Street and trying to make a right turn onto Brandywine Avenue. His view was obstructed by frost on his windshield, according to police spokesman Lt. Mark McCracken.
“He left the roadway, jumped the curb and struck the pedestrian, who was waiting to cross the street,” he said.
The names of the driver and pedestrian were not available from police. The pedestrian was transported to Albany Medical Center with a serious leg injury.
Alcohol or drugs were not a factor, police said. The driver is facing traffic citations for having an obstructed view and failure to stay in the roadway, according to McCracken.
