A Troy police officer was injured late Wednesday night after being stabbed on Glen Avenue near the bike path.
Officer Michael Johnson was patrolling in a marked vehicle when he saw two men he wanted to interview.
He pursued them on foot through a field and then wooded area toward the Martin Luther King Apartments. During the course of the pursuit, Johnson was stabbed in the leg by a knife or cutting instrument and fired multiple shot at the suspects, according to police. Two fellow officers carried Johnson one-eighth of a mile to evacuate him from the scene.
He was transported to the Troy Fire Department with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is continuing.
