ELLENBURG — Authorities say more than 100 cows have been killed in a dairy barn fire near the Canadian border in northern New York.

Fire officials tell the Press-Republican of Plattsburgh that the blaze was reported around 6 p.m. Monday at Glaude’s Riverview Farm in the Clinton County town of Ellenburg, in the northeastern corner of the Adirondack Park.

They say the fire destroyed the barn and killed 110 cows. Farm owner Derrick Glaude says he believes it started near an electrical panel box.

More than a dozen local fire departments battled the blaze for several hours before getting it under control.
