Schenectady County Community College President Quintin Bullock was passed over for a position as president of Frederick Community College in Maryland.
Frederick officials selected Frederico Talley, currently vice president and dean of the College of Southern Maryland’s Leonardtown Campus.
Bullock was one of three finalists for the position. Like Bullock, Talley is black and will be the first such president in FCC’s history.
Bullock, who has been at SCCC since July 2009, was criticized for referring to his current employer as a Chevrolet and the job for which he was applying as a Cadillac. He responded by saying, “I apologize for using a poor analogy. I did not intend to have SCCC described in a negative way.”
