A resident of the downtown YMCA was stabbed this evening as he argued with another man outside the facility.
The incident took place outside the old YMCA, which is only being used for housing. The fitness center was moved to Center City, near Proctors.
Executive Director Lou Magliocca said he didn’t yet know the circumstances leading up to the stabbing. The victim, he said, had just gotten out of the hospital and was still ill.
“Who stabbed him, we don’t know,” he said.
Police said it happened around 5:10 p.m. at the corner of State and South Church streets. The victim was stabbed twice in the abdomen by a man who then ran behind the YMCA and escaped.
The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, said police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Dearing.
